After reading this guide a second time I have concluded it’s a beginner’s guide. With that in mind, let’s take a look at its contents.
The WoW Mastery Guide includes:
- The main guide itself
- A bonus gold making guide
- A leveling guide
- A class guide covering all classes
- An introductory video to World of Warcraft
- 6 mini-guides entitled "Make More Gold", "Horde Grinding", "Mining & Goldsmithing", "New Players", "Power Leveling" and "Rare Tips".
- A thottbot mastery video (Deluxe package only)
- A macro guide (Deluxe package only)
Let me tell you up front, that if you already have a level 60 or 70 character, then this guide is not for you (even if you may glean some valuable tips from it). I know you may hear or read the opposite on other sites, but trust me on this or you’ll be disappointed.
In the "World Of Warcraft Mastery Guide", I actually found the most value from the bonuses and not from the main guide. The main guide covers mostly basic functions of the game such as creating your character, choosing a race and a class, mastering hotkeys and functions, what professions to learn, how to interact with players (including grouping, guilds, mail and more) and the world…
The best guides were the leveling guide and the class guide.
There’s a lot of stuff that has nothing to do with leveling in the leveling guide… but it’s useful so it’s worth a read. The real meat of the report, however, is in the tables of areas to grind for experience by level, both for Horde and Alliance, as well as the accompanying sections on "warp speed leveling".
Overall, I didn’t find a lot of spectacular secrets in this guide. I even disagreed with some tips. And other statements were outdated. The gold making tips were not comprehensive enough to put into action forcefully, even though the concepts are sound.
Once you get to level 60 or 70 there’s hardly more to learn from this guide.
However, I sometimes forget that not everyone has played 1000+ hours of World of Warcraft like myself, or had close friends that could teach you the basics. Case in point: The macro guide included in the Deluxe package taught me a lot of great things about macros that I never knew because it seemed too complicated for me to learn.
YOU may find the class guide or gold guide or any of the other guides great. Just keep in mind that you have to be NEW to WoW to gain the benefits of the World of Warcraft Mastery guide.
