Valkor’s Gold Making Guide is one of the best - if not the best - gold making guides right now.

It’s been around since before The Burning Crusade, and the author has time and again delivered hard hitting gold tips in several updates. Recently expanded for the Wrath of the Lich King expansion, this guide is now ~180 pages, and includes gold making tips for all levels.

Here’s some of what’s covered (my comments in paranthesis):

• Buying Low and Selling High with the Auction House (a guide to making piles of gold with the Auctioneer addon. Unfortunately, this section is slightly outdated since Auctioneer advanced replaced Auctioneer classic, but the same principles still apply.)

• Using Your Profession to Make You Money (Great spots to use your gathering professions, as well as ideas for items you can craft and sell profitably.) 

• New 1-375 Profession Guides Included. That’s right. Skill-up guides are now available in the member’s area for free for all primary and secondary professions (except fishing and inscription). I’ve tried the herbalism and alchemy guides which were great, and looked through the others and they look good.

• Merchant Locations for Cheap and Rare Items (Pretty extensive list of items you can buy and resell more expensively. Works well even at lower levels.)

• Quick Instance Runs (Not really the best way to make gold, since most of the loot binds when picked up and cannot be sold to other players. However, if you can disenchant it or you want it for yourself then good for you.)

• Great Gold Making Spots (these exist for many level ranges, though the latest Wrath of the Lich King tips will naturally make you the most gold.)

• Low Level Gold Strategies (good strategies that can easily earn you several gold per hour, even before level 20, which isn’t bad at all)

• Burning Crusade Strategies. All the Burning Crusade tips I used to make tens of thousands of gold, although many of them won’t work as well now due to WotLK

• Wrath of the Lich King tips. All the ways to make a fortune, right NOW, in WotLK.

• AddOns that help you make more gold (I use most of them, they rock.)

• Daily Quests. Quests you can do every day that reward quite a bit of gold and reputation with various factions, and the nice thing is that it’s paid in cash so you get the gold immediately.  (Not yet updated for WotLK)

• Tons more.

I’ve used many of the tips in this guide first hand, and learnt a lot of new ones from it. One really cool thing I want to point out is that almost everything in the guide is linked to database sites. I cannot describe to you how frustrating it is to search for every mob location, map, drop and so on when reading a gold guide.

So, how much gold can you expect to earn with this guide?

Truthfully, the sky is the limit. If you wanted to, you could earn hundreds of gold in your twenties just by trading the Auction House. Or you could get to level 80 and start earning serious gold per hour from grinding, gathering or any of the other dozens of tips in this guide.

If I had to complain…

It’s hard to complain on such a quality guide. But not every single thing is updated for WotLK yet, like the auctioneer section and the daily quests. There are still a ton of great tips that will serve you very well though. Also, I’d prefer if the links pointed to wowhead instead of thottbot.

Conclusion

It’s definitely one of the best gold guides right now, and it looks like there will be timely future updates, too. Highly recommended.
