Penn is the name of a draenei hunter played by the author of this guide. He was first to level 70 as a draenei hunter on a new server, which is pretty impressive. However, I don’t know if he was first to level 70 or merely the first draenei hunter to achieve max level… In any case, it shows he knows what he’s talking about.
He has put together this detailed alliance leveling guide that shows you every single step from level 1 to 70, starting in the draenei starting area.
I have not played by this guide, but I have looked inside the member’s area and here’s what you can expect:
- The comprehensive leveling guide that tells you exactly which quests to pick up, do, turn in, where to go, what to kill… in short, everything you need to know to get to 70 FAST. Almost everything is based on questing, which is as it should be since questing is more rewarding and faster than grinding if you do it right. Almost all ot the quests are also soloable, while some optional quests require you to find a group. Furthermore, many of the quests are linked to wowhead and thottbot where you can find more info on how to complete the quests. There are also maps with numbers that show you where to go. A nice touch.
- Gold making tips. While only half a page, these tips will actually help you make good money while leveling.
- Addons. There’s only one addon that Penn recommends you download to see the coordinates that he has printed in his guide in addition to the maps.
As for other benefits, Penn has promised to update the guide for the next expansion for free to his customers.
I do think this is a good guide. However, it has its weaknesses. For one, it doesn’t cover the starting areas of dwarves, gnomes, humans and night elves. So if you’re gonna play any other race than draenei, you’re on your own until probably level 18 when it’s logical to start following this guide. You’re also not getting any talent builds for any classes. Nor will you get any in-game map addon that shows you where to go, which is included with other guides.
The price is currently slightly lower than some other guides..
Overall, even though it’s a fast guide you’re missing out on some stuff like in-game map notes, waypoints, talent builds and such that is included with some other guides.
Therefore, I give this guide 6/10. It might deserve better but the competition is fierce when it comes to alliance leveling guides.
