Killer Guides’ World of Warcraft PvP Guide

 - 6/10

Guide last updated: May 2007
Review last updated: 2008-04-111

A lot has happened in PvP since May 2007 when this guide was written. Popular arena setups change, classes have been nerfed and buffed, and things just aren’t what they were.

To make things worse, after reading the May 2007 version of the guide I can tell there are still remnants of the earlier version left in it. For example: 60 being stated as the highest level in some places, 51 talent points being the maximum in others. Apart from that, though, some Burning Crusade content has been added and also comments and strategies that include the new talents.

The first part of the guide is mostly about the 4 battlegrounds: Arathi Basin, Alterac Valley, Warsong Gulch and Eye of the Storm. Unfortunately, the guide still talks about the old honor system in which the goal was to gain reputation, not honor. The discussion on rewards are also from the old level 60 perspective. The discussion on world PvP is more about the "what" than "how". In other words, you’ll learn what to do, but not too much about strategies for accomplishing the objectives.

Once the guide gets into arenas it gets better. This is the new content, so it’s written from a level 70 perspective. I think this chapter is insightful and will help you choose suitable classes for 2 vs. 2, 3 vs. 3 and 5 vs. 5, as well as help you understand some common strategies. I must say the advice is better suited for last year though. Things have changed a bit now in 2008.

The rest of the guide is devoted to sections for every class (a few pages each). To its merit I must say that different builds are commented on and the strengths and weaknesses described well. There are no specific talent builds described though. The best part of this section is the recommendations for gameplay strategies and talent build advice for arenas.

Last but not least are two sections on items.

One on various potions, and one on engineering. Not really too in-depth but there are some decent tips here. Not sure if it’s updated for TBC, either.

Overall, I’d recommend you take a look at Spugnort’s PvP Guide instead. Spugnort’s guide is MUCH better than this one.

This is an "ok" guide, but not spectacular.
