How would you like to now the best strategies for The Burning Crusade, from beta veterans who played it for months before release?
That’s what this guide is about. Giving you insider information as to exactly what to expect and do in The Burning Crusade, and give you "one-up" on even those WoW gamers who have played since release.
Let me first say that no guide could be a "complete guide to TBC". That would require thousands of pages.
You can read all about this guide on www.killerguides.com , but here’s what I got out of it (remember that I haven’t played the beta):
- A solid understanding of the basics: which factions you can gain reputation with, how world PvP works in TBC (some unique twists), all about flying mounts, overview of news to professions (some very cool stuff), infrastructure (mailbox, bank, FP etc.) of towns, what’s new with the Draenei and Blood Elves (could’ve been a little more info here on racial traits and mounts).
- A comprehensive grinding guide. Several tables will show you which zones to go to for mobs of level 58-70+, and what type of mobs there are.
- A 60-70 leveling guide. Let me tell you, I did NOT expect too much of this one beforehand, since most leveling guides (except Brian’s and Joana’s) typically cover each level with one or two paragraphs, and are very general. But this one was a breath of fresh air. Turns out, it’s over 90 pages long and dedicated totally to questing, which is both much faster and more fun than grinding. With the latest March update of the guide, the quests have been linked to Wowhead.com and a lot of coordinates have been added that will save you a lot of time.
There is one horde guide, and one alliance guide. They are both equally detailed.
This leveling guide looks very good, and if you’re level 60 it may not appeal to you to get a 1-70 leveling guide, especially not if you’ve got both horde and alliance characters. But this Burning Crusade guide thoroughly covers 60-70. And yes, I think it will cut your leveling speed in half like it claims.
- PvP guide. This will give you a good understanding of the new battlegrounds, arenas and world PvP, although it won’t exactly foster any PvP skills. It’s more "about PvP", than "how to".
- The gold guide was quite thin, to be honest. Only 2 pages. There are nuggets of wisdom in there, but I feel they could’ve been expanded upon. It’s a start nevertheless.
- Reputations. How to raise them, but no info on what the rewards are. Nevertheless, if you find a faction with which you want to raise your rep, reference this guide on ideas how. The "repeatable quest warning" was nice too, and could save you from wasting a lot of time. Totally new to me.
- Outland spells and skills. Pretty much the info that can be found on Blizzard’s website already, with one major difference. The author has commented on many of the skills available to each class. While something may look good/bad on paper, it’s another thing how it works in-game. This can give you a PvP advantage, since you’ll get an inside understanding of ALL classes, so you can defeat them.
- Instances. No walkthroughs here really, but you’ll see which ones are available, level ranges, and how to unlock Heroic difficulty.
I feel the information in this guide can be trusted. The author is a long-standing member of the reputable guild "The Syndicate", and has written several guides before, including the highly rated engineering and warlock guides. Things can always change in TBC, of course, but this guide has already been updated once after release, so hopefully it will be kept up to date (and updates are free).
In conclusion, I view this guide (currently) as a great leveling guide for 60-70 which will also reveal to you many new TBC secrets and give you a good general understanding of Outlands.
If you want to get to level 70 fast, and know what your options are once you get there, this guide is for you. If you’ve got limited time to play, this one will also help you keep up with your guildies.
The leveling guide would be 9 stars, and the gold guide being 6.5-7, with the rest about "8". So I’ll give this one eight stars. Click here for more information.
